We’re 1 Year Away!
So we decided to go in a slightly different direction with today’s blog and will be doing it interview style. We hope you like it!
So Bre what was your initial reaction when Neh proposed, and did you see it coming?I was COMPLETELY shocked. In fact it took 2 weeks to finally hit me that I was actually engaged and going to be marrying my best friend! To see how the day went check out my video on my YouTube channel!
How do you envision yourself walking down the aisle on your wedding day? How do you envision your wedding dress and bridal style?I envision myself looking and feeling like a princess. My wedding day is something I have dreamed about since I was a little girl so now being able to plan my dream wedding it feels so surreal. Since I have my dress I won’t give too many details but my dress is sexy, sparkly, and very detailed. Overall I’d describe my style is a very glam bride.
What are your top priorities when it comes to wedding planning? My top priorities were my dress, booking hair and makeup, and making sure this process is genuinely enjoyable.
What's your vision for the bridal bouquet and floral arrangements?I seen a super cute idea on Instagram that I think I want to recreate. This bride had each of her bridesmaids have one specific type of flower as their bouquets that was in her bouquet. The only problem would be I need 11 different types flowers in my bouquet or multiple bridesmaid will have the same flowers.
One year from now, when you're reflecting on your wedding day, what emotions and memories do you hope to cherish the most? The love and support of those close to us through this journey. As well as the joy of planning such a beautiful day with my fiancé.
How are you handling any pressure or expectations from family, friends, or others when it comes to wedding planning? This hasn’t been the easiest but I’m very firm on having MY day the way I see it in my head so no one has been able to force their views on me.
What excites you most about getting married?I am so excited to build a life with Nehemy. While the wedding is going to be a beautiful day and we are trying to just enjoy every moment of this wedding planning process, we have plans beyond the wedding day. I can’t wait to see them all unfold with my husband.
Have you considered who your bridesmaids will be and how you'd like to involve them?Yes! I have 2 Matrons of Honor and 11 bridesmaids. I love each of these girls so dearly and couldn’t imagine this day without them by my side. I plan on having small jobs for them leading up to the wedding day but for the most part they have really been a listening ear for me. A few are already married, some are wedding planning for their own wedding, and the others are just great friends. So having that additional support has really been amazing!
Alright now for you, Neh. Tell us about the moment you decided to propose. What inspired your choice of timing and location?Proposing was a no brainer for me honestly. I knew how I felt about her and I seen how my family and friends felt about her so making that decision was easy. What wasn’t was deciding when to do it. Since we're long distance and knew when we wanted to get married any other date would've been super predictable so I decided to propose wayyy farther out from our wedding date. As for the location I didn't have much of a preference where but I knew I wanted to propose in Miami since the wedding is going to be in California.
What kind of wedding attire do you envision wearing on your big day, and why?All black with green and orange accents! It’s such a sleek look and I haven't seen many grooms go with the all black look so I thought it'd be cool and different.
Are there particular aspects of wedding planning that you find especially interesting or enjoyable to be a part of?My favorite part is the website. We bought our domain so that we could repurpose the site after our wedding. Updating the website and growing to see how many people interact with it is so cool and fun to me.
When you think about your wedding day, what are the top three things that come to mind that you're looking forward to?Photos and videos, GREAT energy, and seeing Bre's dress for the first time.
What excites you most about getting married?Life after the wedding seems so exciting to me. The goals we have and the different opportunities waiting for us in our next chapter are only going to strengthen our connection and bond. Being able to have unlimited access to each other and truly be there for one another.
What role do you see yourself playing in wedding planning and preparation?I have a major part to play. Although Bre has her vision it's also my wedding so my input matters. Outside of my input though my job is to make sure that things go as smoothly as possible. That means managing relationships, personalities, mishaps etc.
Have you considered who your groomsmen will be and how you'd like to involve them?I know EXACTLY who my groomsmen are! You can go check them out on our Team page. The only thing I really NEED my groomsman and best men doing is controlling the energy, especially around me. Whether it's being a sounding board for me or it's making sure that the stress of facing unnecessary negativity doesn't fall on me or Bre's shoulders.
How do you balance your individual preferences and styles with your shared vision for the wedding?Neh: In my opinion I don't think our styles are that much different to where we need to balance them.
Bre: Thankfully, we have very similar taste so this hasn’t been hard at all. Our preferences are extremely similar.
Can you share any funny or memorable moments from the wedding planning process so far?Bre: The most memorable moment has definitely been building our wedding website together. While Neh did most of the work, working on it together was SO FUN!!!
As a couple, what's been the biggest lesson or realization you've had during this time of planning your wedding?Bre: People will really try to take over your day if you let them.
What do you hope your wedding day will convey about your love story and your journey as a couple?Bre: I hope our wedding day is a heartfelt reflection of our unique love story and the beautiful journey we have been on together. I hope it shows the depth of our connection, the support we offer each other, and especially the joy we find in each others company. Our wedding is a celebration of what we have built even through the distance, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the dreams we’re nurturing as a couple. Overall I want our big day to show to everyone the love, laughter, and enduring commitment that define our relationship.
In the midst of wedding planning, how do you ensure that your relationship continues to grow stronger and closer?Neh: A lot of our time isn't spent on wedding related things. We discuss what needs to be discussed and move on. We understand that the wedding isn't the end of the road so we talk about our goals, how we plan on reaching them, how we're feeling throughout the process etc.
Bre: We prioritize making time for each other and keep wedding planning in its place. It’s easy to spend all your time on wedding planning but we make sure even when we are doing that we do it together.
